What follows is not another ruling — it is the account of a hand carrying that ruling out into the world, slower than the sentence itself and shaped by hands rather than law. I. What Inscription Asks The court's sentence, at last, is nearly served. What was proclaimed under weight may now be sharpened, but sharpened is not the same as released. A sign may stand taller. A border may be drawn firmer. But nothing here is asked to spread yet — only to make plain, in a single stroke, exactly how far it is allowed to go before something stops it.
